Helpful Tips For Your Day
There are many articles in magazines and the web offering all kinds of advice and tips.
Although much of this is helpful it can be overwhelming. Drawing from our own experience
we have outlined some practical tips running up to and during the wedding day. Not all of these tips will
apply to everyone and they do focus more on the imagery aspects of your wedding. If you have any questions
about these tips, please call or email us and we will be happy to help further.

Double check the details
Once you have booked a photographer, ensure that you send him or her your
requirements in writing and get a confirmation slip from them. Make sure the details are right.
Remember: never make assumptions about the service provided, always ask.
Confetti
Ensure that the church, register office or hotel don't mind handfuls of confetti being thrown around
their entrances. Some might prefer you to use rice or sugar paper. A simple check will avoid any bad feeling.
Realistic schedule
Getting the timings right for your day is the key to a relaxed wedding. Everything takes longer in
a wedding dress. We are very happy to review your schedule to ensure your timings are suitable.
Remember the best part of the day is often after the ceremony and before dinner so
don’t set your ceremony too late.
Wear It Right
Weddings are occasions when many men wear kilts for the first time. For those who don't wear a kilt on a
regular basis it all too easy to have difficulties on the day. Common mistakes include, socks too small
or short, kilts too long, sporran contents too heavy, laces always falling down, button holes on the wrong
side. Wear It Right are a company who can get you and your male bridal party properly dressed on the
morning and take all the stress away. See links page for further details.
Group photo list
Write down the group pictures you would like at different stages of the day, most group pictures are
taken after the ceremony. Where possible the group photo lists should work from largest group to smallest,
so the guests are not kept waiting around. We normally suggest the Bride & Groom photos are taken after
the group photos so that everybody has had a chance to congratulate you by then.
Smile
Some people naturally smile more than others. When walking down the aisle, during the ceremony
remember to smile as these moments can’t be repeated.
Suggest photos on the day
As the day unfolds, there are always photo opportunities arising, so
don’t hold back on asking for any photo to be recorded. When your evening guests arrive, ask
us to take a picture of them and you, otherwise they may feel like they
are intruding if we or they ask.
Entertain your guests
Depending on the ages of your guests, the venue, the weather you might want to think of some
entertainment for your guests. Popular options are a magician after dinner before the first
dance, bird of prey display between ceremony and dinner, pipe band in the evening, fireworks
in the evening. Think of something to make your day special. For ideas see our link page.
Receiving line
Unless you’re sure you want a formal receiving line, drop it from the schedule. It takes a long time,
guests have to queue and most people are not sure what to say. If your having a drinks receptin after
the ceremony, an infomral receiving line will form anyway. We suggest you make more time
to mingle with your guests then and throughout the day.
Walking with high heels on grass
Walking with high heels on grass, gravel and other uneven surfaces can be difficult. That sinking
feeling as your heels sink into the grass can be off putting and destroy your nice shoes. Thankfully
there now an answer allowing you to wear the shoes you want and venture onto the grass. Clean Heels are
temporary rubber feet that just push onto your heels, turning the point of contact of stilettos into
wedges, further details and to order go to www.cleanheels.co.uk
